Is anyone here taking natural hormones?

I've been interested in them; my doctor recently though refused to consider them for me, didn't think they were proven. The doctor didn't really listen.

I've tried menocet...it didn't help the hot flashes at all. Of course I'm hard core menopause...I've been crying all day. My husband is kicking me out. It's sad to know that men do not understand what we are going through. He thinks I'm crazy. I feel like I am losing my mind, but I know I'm not crazy. Just need support.

Hi ladies - I currently take a natural progesterone and have for 2 years. I started having hot flashes and extreme mood swings around 47-48 years old and this supplement has completely eliminated both. It worked great for me. I've also started adding in a natural estrogen cream, but sometimes it will give me a headache, so I'm believe I don't currently need this supplementation. I would like to share my story of surgical menopause and bioidentical hormones.

I'm 54 and had a complete hysterectomy in 1987 when I was in my 30’s. Through the years, I managed my menopause symptoms with different estrogen pills. But no doctor ever mentioned the loss of sex drive or the benefits of testosterone. For 16 years, I had no sex drive. None. Then came the estrogen scare several years ago. I tried to get off of the estrogen and couldn’t. The night sweats were the worse. I was in a miserable place physically. Then in 2003, I read a newsletter from my gyn about Bioidentical Hormone Pellets. I did some research and what caught my eye was one of the symptoms of low testosterone is thinning/loss of pubic hair and loss of sex drive. That was me! I also felt like my name was after every symptom. There was a ray of hope! I talked to my dr about the pellets. She does thousands of women and has them herself. I found out that a friend also had the pellets and greatly benefited from them. So I decided to get them. I get 2 estrogen pellets which are 25mg each, and 1 testosterone pellet of 75mgs. I will get these pellets as long as I am able. Hopefully till I die.

Here is the procedure: My doc numbs a small area on my hip with lidocaine. Then she makes a very tiny incision and then inserts the pellets. She puts on some steri-strips, a Band-Aid and off I go.

I have to say they drastically changed my life for the better. First of all the menopause symptoms went away. But the absolute best was the increase in sex drive. Desire, lubrication and orgasm went through the roof. We were like kids on a honeymoon! My whole self-image has increased.  I guess I’m trying to make up for all those lost years!

I have about 15 friends with the pellets and we have all tried the various methods of deivery: patches, creams, gels.  We all agree the pellets are the best.

Regards,

Nancy

It is nice to find another woman that has gained so much relief from using the natural progesterone cream! I have been using it now for 6 months and have no hot flashes now and feel like I am slowly getting back to my normal self. It really has not helped with the heart palpitations but have had everything checked out and all okay. Any suggestions for those?

Thanks so much for sharing this infomration about estrogen pellets. It's new for me, so I'm going to look into it more. Feel free to send me more information at creativecommunications@cox.net

To healthy49 and you questions about heart palpitations. This is a tricky one and you should have a doctor check it out. It's not the first time I've heard it coming into play around menopause, but people typically have different things going on. For some women, it's that they are just drinking too much caffeine. If you are, try cutting that out for awhile and see if it goes away.

I am new to the forum and thought I would share my experiences with estrogen pellets. I had my first insertion on 1/16/2009. I can really tell a drastic improvement in my symptoms as far as hot flashes. I am truly a believer in the pellets. My doctor also prescribed oral progestrone that I drop under my tongue nightly and also Vegafem that I insert vaginally. I can tell a big difference in my sex drive. I feel like a new woman. It is so nice to sleep the entire night without hot flashes also. grin

Hi,
I have not taken bioidentical hormones as yet but have heard that they are the best alternative than synthetic ones that cause no side effects. They are made from natural sources and are trusted by experts like, Dr. Maegan Davis of Natural Body in Balance. You can visit her at http://www.naturalbodyinbalance.com/ and know more about bioidentical hormones.
